Cincuenta preguntas que se contestan en veinticinco minutos y que sitúan tu nivel antes de las cuatro destrezas.
El Core son las dos primeras pruebas (25 preguntas de gramática y 25 de vocabulario) y es la única parte del examen que no da nivel propio: da nota numérica. Aun así importa, y mucho: si una destreza se te queda justo por debajo de una nota de corte, el sistema mira el Core, y si va fuerte te sube al nivel siguiente. Es la prueba más estudiable de las cinco.

Los ítems del Core apuntan a un nivel de A1 a B2: no hay preguntas de C1 ni de C2. Lo que sí puede pasar es que un Core fuerte suba de nivel una destreza que se quedó justo por debajo del corte.

Las cinco tareas de vocabulario son: sinónimos (casar dos palabras de significado parecido), significado en contexto (dos tareas: completar el hueco de una frase corta), definiciones (casar palabra y definición) y collocations (qué palabra acompaña a otra).

Es de lo que más se falla porque en español no se elide igual.
Entran en el Core y son las de peor acierto —el subjuntivo se falla más de la mitad de las veces—, pero además son las que suben tu banda en Writing y Speaking. Están explicadas una a una, con su forma y su ejemplo, en «Las estructuras que suben de banda», en esta misma biblioteca.
En las cinco tareas eliges de un banco de 10 opciones para 5 huecos: siempre sobran cinco. Esa es la mecánica que hay que tener en la cabeza, es una carrera de descarte, no de traducción.
Es la tarea que más aparece, y de las que más se fallan. Son parejas que van juntas porque sí, y traducirlas del español las rompe.

Estúdialos en familias, con el matiz de fuerza: good → decent → remarkable → outstanding ·
