Present your view on what makes work meaningful and fulfilling in today's world.
Presentación modelo (nivel C1)
Good morning, everyone. Today I'd like to talk about what makes work meaningful and fulfilling in today's world. I'll look at three aspects, namely purpose, people and balance, and then I'll give my own view.
Let me start with purpose. Many of us need to feel that what we do actually matters, whether that means helping others or simply seeing the results of our effort. A well-paid job that feels pointless tends to leave people exhausted and disengaged.
Secondly, there are the people we work with. Even a demanding job can be deeply satisfying when colleagues respect each other and a manager trusts the team. By contrast, a toxic atmosphere can ruin a position that looks perfect on paper.
The third aspect is balance. Meaningful work shouldn't come at the expense of our health or our families. In an age of constant connectivity, that line is very easily blurred.
To sum up, although salary obviously matters, I'd argue that a sense of purpose and good relationships are what really make a job worthwhile. Thank you for listening.
Parte 4: la pregunta posterior
What is more important: earning a high salary, or finding a job you love?
Respuesta modelo a la pregunta (nivel C1)
That's a tough question. On the one hand, a high salary gives you security and freedom, and it would be unrealistic to ignore that. On the other hand, if you dread going to work every morning, no amount of money will make up for it. Personally, I think the ideal is somewhere in between: a job you enjoy that pays enough to live comfortably. If I had to choose, though, I'd go for a job I love, since money is only useful if you're happy enough to enjoy it.

1. Anunciar la estructura
«I'll look at three aspects, namely purpose, people and balance, and then I'll give my own view.»
2. Recorrer los puntos
«Let me start with purpose. Secondly, there are the people we work with. The third aspect is balance.»
Cada punto lleva su marca: «let me start with», «secondly», «the third aspect».
3. Contraste y negación enfática
«On the one hand, a high salary gives you security and freedom, and it would be unrealistic to ignore that. On the other hand, if you dread going to work every morning, no amount of money will make up for it.»
«On the one hand» y «on the other hand» presentan las dos caras y dan una respuesta equilibrada. «No amount of money will make up for it» es una negación enfática: «no amount of» más sustantivo. El calco del español sería «no matter how much money, it doesn't compensate».
4. Cerrar con una decisión
«If I had to choose, though, I'd go for a job I love, since money is only useful if you're happy enough to enjoy it.»
